Local Birthday Party

We were invited to our friend's little girl's first birthday party tonight. She's such a cutie little girl and the family just adores her. (And I believe she's the first grandchild on each side!) So it was a big deal.  Before we left for the party I told Kevin that I'm prepared for there to be a lot of people there, and that it will be loud. I was not wrong!

Previous to this party we had visited this family because the three had been in the States for three months for an internship and the mother was very excited about the party, saying she bought all the decorations in the States, bought all the presents in the States, and got all new ideas for parties in the States. She loved Hobby Lobby!

When we sang "Happy Birthday to You" we first sang it in English, and EVERYONE was off key. But somehow they seemed to recover the key when we sang it in Arabic! Not sure how that happened. But what was really cool was one of the older ladies in the group shouted out some blessings on the little girl and at the end everyone "agreed" by giving a hearty Aye aye aye aye aye", you know, kinda like you hear Native Americans call on those Old Western movies.

And, oh gracious, they had a pinata! I told Kevin we needed to move away from the action because I've never seen an America's Funniest Home Videos version that ended well. And it was FULL! Eliana jumped right in there and got her some goodies and somehow she came home with several hair ties. Not sure how that happened! :-)
