English Club II

This week we've had a wonderful group from Mississippi come and do an English camp in a village about 30 minutes from our home. This same group came last year and loved it so much they wanted to come back. We've had a great turn out from the kids (71!), even though the girls are finishing up theirs tests in school. 

We kinda organize it like a VBS: crafts, recreation, music and an English study, with a break for a snack. The kids seem to enjoy each class and are excited at the start of each day.

Each child knows a varying degree of English; where many only know how to say, "I am fine," others are able to loosely translate what was said to their parents.

The girls love getting their picture taken and ask all the time to have a picure with their friends.

The group from Mississippi prepared the English class to learn the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, with crafts to follow along with what they learn. 

But I would say recreation is their favorite class. Yesterday they did a water relay race. 

And each child and adult gets a t-shirt to take home and remember what they learned.

Eliana's Star Performance

Eliana was a part of a end-of-the-year program at her school.  It was also a graduation for the Kindergartners.  Eliana sang a song (in Arabic) with some other kids.  The girls were rabbit and the boys were foxes and they ate the rabbits.  It was cute and they had little hats on and everything!  I took a video of it, but it's a little shaky because the teacher kept standing right in front of Eliana, so I kept trying to move.  I loaded it onto YouTube, so you can go there and see it, if you want.
