Today while the girls were in school we went 30 minutes south to a town that is known for glass blowing and pottery. In all the area you can find glass artwork done by the men in this factory. It's really amazing to stand and watch them make a creation from a clump of glowing melty stuff.
The fire inside this thing is blazing hot. Makes me think of 3 men who were thrown into one!
In the pottery factory the men were busy at work, drawing the designs and painting them in. One man was working on drawing the black lines of the design, and other men were coloring everything in.
At first I really liked the pastel colors of the paints, but then realized they turned dark once they were put in the kiln.
The drive down and back is very pretty with lots of olive trees, grape vines and terraces along the way.
For lunch we stopped and got us some "road kill" (whole chickens that are splayed flat and grilled until black.) The smell from the grill was awesome.
After Eliana got home from school and we tried (unsuccessfully) to get Karis to take a nap, Eliana and grandma played with the bubbles. Here she is in her new school uniform.
In the evening we had team worship, followed by a hamburger dinner at our teammates' house. We had a good night of fellowship and we were glad Kevin's parents were able to meet our friends/family on this side of the world.
