Hard Drive Crash!

Sorry we haven't had any posts recently. Our hard drive crashed and so we haven't been able to update anything recently. So here is a catch-up post:

Valentine's weekend we cat-sat for our friends who were out-of-town. They have a young kitten and the girls LOVED having her at our house. She was really a good cat and made me want to have one. But by the end of the three days Kevin was ready for her to be gone.

On the 15th we visited with some new friends in a nearby village. The wife's name is Suad and she taught me how to make a dish called Uzi. It was delicious! It is rice with vegetables (and sometimes beef) with chicken.

To eat most of the foods here, everyone sits around a big plate of the food. We each have our own bowl of yogurt and you take a spoon, scoop some yogurt, then scoop food out of the central dish, and eat. Knowing we are Americans, they provided us each with our own bowl to put the food into.

Aren't these flowers beautiful! They are almond blossoms and here in about a month we will have lohse (almonds). They start out green, then fall off when they turn brown and hard. But the people here like to eat them while they're still green.

Sadly though I seem to be allergic to these pretty flowers. I was just thinking how we've been here close to a year and I hadn't had any allergy problems. And then these trees started to bloom. But aren't they pretty?
